Which AudioPen App Is Official?

The short answer: an AudioPen app is official only if the developer is Nicheless, Inc. (the company behind audiopen.ai). App stores carry several voice-to-text tools with similar names from unrelated developers — same idea, different product, different billing and different privacy policies. Some 60 seconds of checking saves you a wrong subscription.

The three official store listings

Direct links to all three are on our download page. The only official websites are audiopen.ai and its app subdomain — the web app at app.audiopen.ai is itself always a safe choice.

How to check any listing, anywhere

1. Read the developer line. On the App Store it says “Nicheless, Inc.”; on Google Play the developer links back to audiopen.ai. A different company name means a different product.
2. Check the package or app ID. Android’s official package is exactly com.audiopen.android — extra words in the package name are a red flag.
3. Follow the support link. Official listings point to audiopen.ai or hello@audiopen.ai. Unrelated apps point somewhere else entirely.
4. Compare the pricing model. AudioPen sells one-time passes (current prices on our pricing page) plus a matching in-app yearly pass on iOS. A weekly or monthly auto-renewing subscription is a strong sign you’re looking at a different product.

Lookalikes you may run into

Regional app stores list same-named voice apps from other companies — for example, a subscription “AudioPen” voice-to-text app by an unrelated developer appears in some Asian App Store regions. There’s also a lookalike domain, audiopen.io, which is not connected to the product and currently just redirects to ads. Neither is the AudioPen this site covers.

Why the distinction matters

The official product has specific promises attached: recordings auto-deleted after processing, notes never used to train AI, one Prime pass covering every platform. None of that transfers to an unrelated app that happens to share the name — its subscription terms, refund handling and data practices are its own. When in doubt, start from audiopen.ai and let it send you to the right store listing.
